abstract
  • The Galactic Nexus was populated by ships travelling between planetary systems. The very oldest ships were ram-jets with hopeful settlers on board for the decades needed to reach the goal. This was the way Beta Colony and the failed Alpha Colony were colonized. Pretty nearly every other settled planet was populated by people who travelled through wormholes in jumpships. These ships required pilots who had both special training and a bionic implant connecting their brain with a special computer on the starship permitting the passage through the wormholes that had to be traversed to reach their destination.
