The C58 Shotgun was first used in 2556 during the Battle of the Plains of Anduu. It performed well, but was found to be violently explosive when cut by an energy sword or slagged by a plasma bolt. The reason for this is the open receiver for the Type 5 Flechette, which was found to have an explosive propellant that was too reactive to heat. This problem was fixed with the replacement Type 6 Flechette.
