abstract	Bombast is a human showmaster who appears in the cartoon show episode "Sideshow Smurfs". He travels around on a wagon with his trained dog Bluster and is very harsh toward his performers, including his dog, who at one time was his star attraction. In the episode, Bluster came across Clumsy and Smurfette as they fell down into a hole, so Bombast took them out of the hole and put them in a cage in his wagon, believing that they will make fine performers as he trained them in various acts before presenting them to the humans in a nearby village. However, on the day the two Smurfs were supposed to perform, it had started to rain over the human village, which meant that nobody will come out to watch the two Smurfs perform -- until he saw Gargamel walking out in the rain with his cat Azrael. Gargamel spotted the two Smurfs in Bombast's wagon and offered to pay the showmaster money in exchange for them, but Bombast wasn't willing to part with his performers, so Gargamel used sleeping dust on the two Smurfs so that they wouldn't be able to perform. Indeed, when the rain had stopped and people gathered around Bombast's wagon to see his two Smurf performers, the crowd had booed him when he noticed his performers were sleeping and he couldn't awaken them. Again, Gargamel tried to negotiate a price for the Smurfs, but instead Bombast got so angry with Gargamel, suspecting trickery on his customer's part, that he made the wizard and his cat be his new performers after Papa Smurf and the other Smurfs had secretly taken Clumsy and Smurfette away to safety. However, the new act was so bad that the crowd threw tomatoes at both the performers and the showmaster. By the end of the story, Bombast was chasing Gargamel and Azrael through the forest, threatening to get his payment from their hides.
