  • William Fenton Fenton-Jones (c.1862-1934) was an insurance agent and politician in the Hackney area. The son of John Jones and Eleanor née Fenton, he was born in Birmingham. His father was a justice of the peace, poor law guardian, vestryman and member of the London School Board and London County Council. Fenton-Jones was a member of the Hackney Board of Guardians from 1893 and a councillor on Hackney Borough Council from 1903-12, serving as Mayor of Hackney 1910-11. He was involved in raising local units of the Territorial Force and a number of wartime units during the First World War, and held the honorary rank of colonel. He married Maria May Cain from the Isle of Man, and they had a number of children.
