The New Britain goshawk (Accipiter princeps), is a species of bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It is endemic to New Britain, Papua New Guinea. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss. Formerly classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN, it was suspected to be rarer than previously assumed. Following the evaluation of its population status, this was found to be correct, and it is consequently uplisted to vulnerable status in 2008.
