In addition to teaching the occasional theology classes (which are not offered each year) he has degrees in physics and computer science earned before he was a priest. Add this with his theological, philosophical, and language training from seminary training, and can teach just about any class, although he quick to stress he can only teach the theory of thaumaturgy. He is the Academy's "permanent substitute." While Fr. Larry has no superpowers, and was never a superhero, but he has an interesting and unrevealed past. It is known he was involved military intelligence. He is quick to add, "It is not as exciting as it sounds. I was a geek in a computer room." He may be understating his abilities as a hacker and codebreaker. Students may notice Dr. L33T is afraid and in awe of him. Also he and Dean Henderson are good friends and students may sometimes catch them talking about "old times."
