This event gave him the drive to become one of the army's highest-ranking officers, in which position he oversaw the development of the Battlefield Holographic Control Interface and served as Brenn Tantor's superior throughout the young officer's Imperial career. Brashin oversaw Tantor's early career in operations on the desert planet Tatooine, the mining planet Ruul, and the volcanic world Sarapin. He also commanded Tantor in later operations on Yavin 4, Hoth, the Forest Moon of Endor, and a final mission on the hilly planet Abridon. However, when Tantor disobeyed an order to wipe out a refugee camp on Abridon, Brashin had him imprisoned. Tantor escaped and defected to the Rebel Alliance, but Brashin later attempted to capture Tantor while Tantor was on a mission to the asteroid Trasse. Brashin was unable to keep Tantor from completing his mission and escaping. By the time of the fall of the Imperial capital of Coruscant, Brashin was commanding the defense of the planet, where Tantor defeated his forces decisively.
