The 1964 Volunteer 500 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Bristol Motor Speedway on July 26, 1964. Richard Petty dominated the race, leading 442 of the 500 laps, but one of those was not the last lap. After Petty fell out on the last lap due to rear end issues, Fred Lorenzen. Petty, the eventual 1964 champ, still finished. Stats
