When his son Trip was a child, Tucker encouraged him to become an engineer. (ENT: "Similitude") In 2152, while experiencing the Crossing, Trip relived raking leaves with his father when he was nine years old. (ENT: "The Crossing") In 2153, Tucker and his wife lost their daughter Elizabeth in the Xindi attack on Florida. (ENT: "The Expanse") Prior to her death, he used to bug her about giving him a granddaughter. (ENT: "Demons") Following the attack, he and his wife moved to Mississippi. (ENT: "The Augments") Tucker lost a second child in 2161, when Trip was killed in the line of duty aboard Enterprise NX-01. He and his wife attended the signing of the Federation Charter soon after. (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...") This character was only mentioned in dialogue. In the writers' second draft script of "Breaking the Ice" , Tucker was established as having repeatedly taken his son Trip up to the mountains with a telescope, whenever a comet passed by. In the final draft script of "Similitude", Tucker was referred to as having owned an ocean skimmer. According to the same teleplay, he had been about to replace the entire engine until Trip had determined the real problem.
