Ibadi or Ibadism was a school where a Islamic faith was dominant in the countries of Oman and Zanzibar. The religion is also spread and known in the countries of Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, ,and East Africa. Some say the religion and movement was founded 20 years after when the Muslim Prophet Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh died which predated denominations of Sunni and Shia practices. Many Muslims and Historians believe that the denomination came froma reformed sect of the Khwarij movement where however, they deny anything more then a relation to the Khawarij and they point out that it developed from the same precursor group.

Even though it is seen as a strict adherence to the sharia; in public and private matters, people describe them as puritanical where the character of their own denomination is considered a moderate tolerance and views towards other religions.
