Nodar David Kumaritashvili (Georgian: ნოდარ დავით ქუმარიტაშვილი; November 25, 1988 - February 12, 2010) was a Georgian luger who died in a practice crash on the day of the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics. His death cast a shadow over the whole Olympics and tributes were paid by the IOC and the Georgian Olympic team, who wore black armbands during the opening ceremony. He was the fourth athlete to die during preparations for the winter Olympics.
