  • Prince claimed his first and only love (after himself) was music but this isn't true. He had an unrequited love affair with basketball but that game rejected him when he failed to grow to the minimum Magic Johnson height. Spurned, Prince threw himself into music and convinced himself that his father wasn't Kid Creole but a mix of Little Richard and Jimi Hendrix - with a dash of Michael Jackson thrown in. He grew a mustache and kept it when all others abandoned them, thinking it made them look like a porn actor, a child molester or the man who turns up on a doorstep to sell life insurance.
  • Prince Rogers Nelson (born June 7, 1958), known by his mononym Prince, is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor. He has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career.[1] He has written several hundred songs[2] and produces and records his own music for his own music label.[1] In addition, he has promoted the careers of Sheila E., Carmen Electra, the Time and Vanity 6,[1] and his songs have been recorded by these artists and others, including Chaka Khan, Cyndi Lauper, The Bangles, SinĂ©ad O'Connor, and Kim Basinger.
  • Prince Rogers Nelson was born June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to John L. Nelson and Mattie Shaw, though his roots are centered in Louisiana with all four of his grandparents hailing from the state. Prince's father was a pianist and songwriter and his mother was a jazz singer. Prince was named after his father, whose stage name was Prince Rogers, and who performed with a jazz group called the Prince Rogers Trio. In a 1991 interview with A Current Affair, Prince's father said, "I named my son Prince because I wanted him to do everything I wanted to do." Prince's childhood nickname was Skipper.
