Zelzal-2 (Persian: زلزال-۲, meaning "Earthquake") is an unguided Iranian 610 mm heavy artillery rocket that can carry a 600 kg (1,323 lb) warhead an estimated . The missile is thought to be based on the Soviet FROG-7 missile, with development that began in 1990. As of August 2006, it has been reported that Iran had supplied Hezbollah with Zelzal-2 missiles. Similar claims had already been made in 2002, but no proof has been found in subsequent years. It appears that, if there are indeed such missiles stationed in Lebanon, they are controlled by Iranian liaison officers[citation needed].
