The phial of Caladriel is a guaranteed artifact. Though it is classified as a potion, it cannot be drunk or used for alchemy; rather, it can be 'U'sed to light up the area around the PC. Doing so drains all the PC's PP; the effect radius depends on the amount of PP used. Perhaps the most notable use for the phial of Caladriel is throwing it at a humanoid opponent, which sets off a flash that blinds the target for a few turns. Blindness usually lasts for about five or six turns.

Desirability
| - Its light granting power is dubious, and next to useless in magical darkness as the caster of it will just create it again. The fact that creating light injures gremlins makes it slightly useful for exiting the Gremlin Cave after retrieving the artifact. Its ability to blind opponents, however, can prove useful as it momentarily disables even some bosses; with enough persistence , it can make the battle against powerful enemies much easier.
Aside from acting as a light source and a disabler the phial is commonly used as ratling fodder.
