Tarsarian devourers were non-sentient predators that spawned on Taris's destroyed surface during the Cold War. They were the product of a rakghoul virus mutation that spread to the tarsarian stomper. The stompers were non-native beasts, kept only in zoos, that initially thrived in the post-bombardment jungles of Taris, but were overwhelmed by their more aggressive infected cousins. Although it was impossible to contract the rakghoul plague from these creatures, the devourers became the strongest and most feared species of the planet, on the top of the Tarisian food chain.
