Annie and Irma tell an annoyed Emily that Mr Hunter’s persuasions have worked and they’re dropping out of the protest. Emily retorts that Ena will more than enough to help them when she returns. The Tatlocks get an offer for their house and shop in Glasgow to enable them to move to Weatherfield. Ken isn’t pleased at the prospect. Betty enjoys looking after the twins. Minnie buys a new grate for Len to install which she can't afford. She has to refuse Albert’s invitation to eat at a pensioners club in Jubilee Terrace. Stan and Hilda drop out of the protest in the hope of jobs at the new warehouse. Ena returns but refuses to help the fight as she has to look after her own interests but she refuses to elaborate why.
