Jasper traumatising his latest victim (Vampire Science): [Carolyn] pulled out the next book and saw a bat staring at her. It leapt and she yelped and the bat was in her face. It must have been sneaking up on her on the back side of the shelf. She banged up against the shelves behind her and lost her balance, screaming, falling sideways as the creature thrashed through the air around her head. And the Doctor was charging through the stacks towards her, calling out for her and— Jesus Christ, he'd just caught the bat in his bare hands. She stared up at him in disbelief, her heart still pounding. "Awww," said the Doctor, scratching the bat under the chin, "did the big mean owd wady fwighten you?" Carolyn gaped. "What the—" "Oh, I'm sorry, you haven't been introduced," said the Doctor. He continued to pet the terrified bat, soothing it till it stopped wriggling in his grasp. "This is Jasper, and that one"—he pointed at a shape hanging from a nearby girder—"is Stewart. They've lived here for a long time. We're old friends now." "Oh. Sure," said Carolyn shakily. He let Jasper flap off towards the rafters, and reached out a hand to help her to her feet.Jasper getting some action whilst Stewart babysits (Seeing I): [The] aliens had locked the Doctor in a cell, and guarded him night and day, and tried to starve him to death. When it was all over, when they went back to the TARDIS together, he had eaten a bowl of tomato soup very, very slowly and carefully, and then fallen asleep for twenty eight straight hours. She had sat with him for most of it, reading. The bats had hung around, perching on the low bed in the recovery room, or cuddling in her lap. She’d put his ruined clothes into some sort of tumble drier from Mars, and they’d come out fresh and clean, even repaired. So that was how he did it, she thought. Eventually she’d had to go to her own bed, taking Jasper the bat with her, leaving his twin Stewart to keep a beady eye on the Doctor from where he hung upside down on the bedstead. [...] One afternoon, she had knocked carefully on his door, and then put her head around it. His pyjamas were stacked neatly on the end of the bed; Stewart was curled atop them, as though guarding them. Jasper & Stewart pretending that they're happy to see the Doctor's latest fixation (Seeing I): Jasper and Stewart fluttered down excitedly and perched on her shoulders, snuggling up. "Hello, boys!" she said. "Good to see she’s been taking care of you." She patted the console.
