| - Television addiction is like sunlight to most artists' inner Dracula. Television itself is not so bad. It often becomes a problem because it is so addictive. At its most addictive it's mindless but fun entertainment with music, bright colors and captivating material. If you become (or are) addicted you will not only not be able to spend as much time on art, but you will often be unable to wake up on time in the morning because you stole sleep from yourself by staying up late to feed the insatiable television beast. Everyone has to find their own way to deal with this. My answer was to pick one show, and just watch that. In case you're wondering, it's Wheel of Fortune for me. The rest of my free time I write, practice piano, or draw. That's a much better use of my time than watching a box in my apartment. Of course, there's no Wheel of Fortune on the weekend, so on the weekend I let myself have a little more leeway. I'm not against television per se, I'm against abusing it by watching too much. Perhaps you'll agree with me in time. Your life is valuable; too valuable to waste a significant percentage of on something like television, that, to paraphrase Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, takes so much away, and gives back so very little. --Hrodulf 13:56, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
