(DS9: "Sons and Daughters") The Klingon cargo vessel studio models were upscaled modifications of the Groumall-type freighter. It is unclear whether or not these models were supposed to represent the earlier referenced Klingon freighters, or if those ships were of an entirely different design. In the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, David Stipes suggests that the Klingons captured Cardassian freighters and painted them in their own colors as prizes of war.
