| - Formed from a handful of smaller gangs, Afterburn quickly became notorious and feared for its involvement in armed robbery, extortion, kidnapping, torture, and murder. It acquired its name from its distinctive method of torturing victims: tying their hands, feet, other appendages, or faces to the afterburners of their swoops and then warming them up. Some citizens reported Afterburn to the local Royal Corps of Gendarmes detachment, but law enforcement had difficulty tracking them down, because most people were too afraid to speak out. Centurion Baylis Scytha, arriving on Mezlagob with Jinyx Windrunner to help her gain field experience, took an interest in Afterburn and vowed to hunt them down. Tipped off by his old friend Mylosh Roxxa and other local contacts, Baylis tracked the gang to a meeting place. After he and Jinyx disabled the gang's speeders, they crashed the meeting and, when the thirty-six gang members predictably refused to surrender to only two beings, proceeded to massacre them. Mylosh and some of his friends arrived in support of Baylis and Jinyx and gunned down four gang members who attempted to flee. The few survivors of the slaughter were tried and convicted in 156 ABY; most received life sentences, although two were condemned to death. Given his "charge right in" approach rather than any attempt to call for reinforcements or make apprehensions, Baylis acquired the nickname "Bloodbath Baylis" among his siblings in the Order of Keltrayu.
