abstract
| - Scott Jones was a defender who played for Rovers for two years between 2000 and 2002. He joined the club initially on loan from Barnsley at the start of the 2000-01 season, before signing permanently a month later. The club forked out a £200,000 transfer fee for his services and he was a regular in the first team during his first season at the club. His popularity with the fans dropped considerably however when he missed an injury-time penalty in a 1-1 draw against arch-rivals Bristol City, which would have given a much-needed win to the Pirates at the tail end of the 2000-01 season. The extra two league points would have saved Rovers from relegation that season. The following season Scott was in the first team less regularly, and was sent out on loan to York City near the end of the season before being allowed to leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2002.
