| - "The Salesman", AKA Jim Kaplan is a conman, characterized by his permanent wide insincere smile. He has a bank and tattoo parlor. Many of his cons are directed at Peter since he is gullible and easy to fool. He first appeared as a blonde in "I Am Peter, Hear Me Roar". He sent letters to most of Spooner Street, including the Griffin Family, Cleveland Brown, Joe Swanson, Glenn Quagmire, and Fat Albert, informing them they have won a boat and a timeshare. When Peter and Lois Griffin go to the seminar to finalize the boat deal, Kaplan dupes Peter into choosing the Mystery Box, which contained two tickets to the Chuckle Bucket Comedy Club. Everyone else on Spooner Street outsmarted Kaplan and rightfully chose the boat. In "There's Something About Paulie", he runs a car dealership and calls himself Doug. This time, he convinces Peter to buy an incompletely constructed used car. He was a sports agent in "Ready, Willing, and Disabled", willing to give his clients anything he owns to get them to sign a contract. In "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" He sold Peter Griffin volcano insurance, but when Lois discovers what he has done, she sends Peter to get the money back. In "Hell Comes to Quahog", he sold Peter a tank, when he took Meg out to buy a car. She never got to drive the tank. He sold the Griffins a TiVo in "Bango Was His Name Oh", the second segment of Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. In "No Meals on Wheels", he sold Peter red flannel feety pajamas and a half-finished coloring book. "Kaplan" receives a blank check for the pajamas. Herbert also bought something from the same store. In "Model Misbehavior", it is revealed he runs a pyramid scheme company called Cash$cam. He holds a contest in "Trading Places" with the winner receiving a dirtbike. The salesman appears as one of several sidelined characters in the opening of "A Lot Going On Upstairs". Danny Smith, Family Guy producer, as well as the salesman's creator and voice, insists that the character's name is not really Jim Kaplan in the DVD commentary for "Hell Comes to Quahog", but an alias he used in his business dealings.
