- Bryan Singer wuchs in einem jüdischen Haushalt auf. Singer ist Cousin der Schauspieler Lori und Marc Singer. Schon in seiner Kindheit unternahm er Experimente mit einer Super8-Kamera. Für ihn und seine High-School-Freunde Christopher McQuarrie und Ethan Hawkestand schon früh fest, dass sie ins Filmgeschäft wollten. Singer steht offen zu seiner Homosexualität. 2004 inszenierte er zwei Episoden der Fernsehserie Dr. House, im Jahr darauf war er als Drehbuchautor an dem Fernsehfilm Bermuda Dreieck – Tor zu einer anderen Zeitbeteiligt.

Il tourne ses premiers essais en Super-8 à l'adolescence, puis, après avoir étudié à la prestigieuse School of Visual Arts de New York, il poursuit sa formation à l'USC (University of South California) et passe professionnel en réalisant un film d'entreprise. - Bryan Singer is an American filmmaker who body of work has been split between low-budget psychological thrillers and high-budget superhero movies. He is an avid fan of the moviegoing experience and with every film has tried to aim for a different genre. He has admitted on many occassions that he looks to his favorite films of the past, especially those by Stanley Kubrick, for inspiration and then adds his own style to it. - Born in New York City, Singer was adopted as a child and received a Jewish upbringing in New Jersey. After graduating from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School (South), he studied at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York, followed by the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, California. Openly gay, he has credited his experiences as a minority with influencing his work that followed.
