| - Beatty studied acting at the California Institute of the Arts and attended a Shakespeare workshop with Patrick Stewart at the Paramount soundstage. He appeared in several stage plays including the title role in "Hamlet" at the Tribal Players, "Julius Caesar" and "Spunk" at the Mark Taper Forum, and "Romeo and Juliet" at the Shakespeare Center. Beatty started acting on screen in the late 1980s and was featured in the crime drama Colors (1988, with Seymour Cassel, Tina Lifford, Sharon Schaffer, and Tony Todd), the television drama The Women of Brewster Place (1989, with Paul Winfield and William Frankfather), the drama Gross Anatomy (1989, with Clyde Kusatsu, J. Patrick McNamara, Kay E.
