The APPEARANCE_TYPE_* constants are used in NWScript to indicate the appearance of a creature. These integer values correspond to rows in <a href="/mediawiki/Appearance.2da" title="Appearance.2da">appearance.2da</a>. Other rows in the .2da file do not have symbolic constants. Their row number can be used instead.
