Moya and Talyn rendezvous with a medical ship shortly after an ordeal with another group of escaped Peacekeeper prisoners in order to transfer the last surviving prisoner, the Scarran Naj Gil. Shortly after he boards, however, a pair of Peacekeeper vessels arrive on the scene to attack. Talyn easily destroys both ships, but because of his increasing confusion, aggression, and instability then turns his guns on the medical ship. He destroys it, killing hundreds of innocent people including Naj Gil to the horror of everyone aboard Moya.
