  • Empress Urios Zaarman was the first and only ruler of Sorcerer's Isle. As a latent, she was tormented by her psionic abilities, unable to block out the thoughts of others. Finally, she was able to develope the runes required to create an aura which sealed off her abilities. Coincidentally, these runes also were used to create ESP auras. At the time, most Houses were dependent upon Psycians for communication. These runes enabled the House of Zaarman to fire their Psycians and dramatically cut the costs of their business. Using the influence garnered by these runes, Urios propelled herself as the first and only Empress of Sorcerer's Isle. Her reign was a short one as soon the Frontacian-Psycian wars soon broke out. Her plan to destroy Psycia succeeded at the cost of her life. As she stepped through the gateway just before the isle's distruction, she was betrayed by her Arachnian attendant. After her death, Sorcerer's Isle descended in to civil unrest as the Lesser Houses rose up in anger against the ruling Great Houses who no longer could maintain their economic superiority without the gateways.
