  • Lieutenant Samantha Lefkin was the Chief of Operations of the Federation starship USS Luna. (Star Trek: Luna) Samantha Lefkin was born on the New Berlin Lunar Colony in 2351. The daughter of two Starfleet Officers, Lefkin spent very little of her young life at New Berlin, instead following one or both of her parents on their tours around the Federation. Eventually the stress as living as a divided family proved to be too much and her parents split up. Samantha stayed with her father, an officer on the USS Gryphon. Samantha’s mother slowly drifted out of her life. In 2369 she entered Starfleet Academy choosing to follow in her father’s footsteps and study operations. Lefkin graduated from the academy near the start of the Dominion War. She entered the Starfleet College of Operations in the fall of that year, in order to gain a fleet commission as an operations officer, as opposed to being pressed into service in the ground forces as many academy graduates were, due to the war. While a student, Lefkin learned that her father was killed in action against the Dominion. Samantha took her father’s death hard however; the tragedy did allow Samantha and her estranged mother, now a high-ranking official at Starfleet Command, to enter into a cautious reconciliation. After graduation, Lefkin was assigned as a member of the operations department on board the USS Algonquin, a Cheyenne-class scout. Lefkin remained on the Algonquin for hir first tour before being promoted and transferred to the Akira-class USS Osiris. Lefkin spent three years as an Operations Manager, during which time the Osiris was assigned to Cardassian territory to aid with reconstruction. In 2380 Lefkin was promoted to a full Lieutenant and transferred to the USS Luna as that vessel’s chief operations officer.
