When Archer and Reed returned to the planet to retrieve a lost communicator, they were captured by Gosis' species, specifically the military he served in. Gosis was played by Francis Guinan. In the final draft script of "The Communicator", he was described thus; "Gosis is an ambitious and ruthless officer; he's prone to paranoia when it comes to defending his government and its territory."

Believing they were enemy spies, Gosis had them medically examined by Doctor Temec. Upon the doctor's concluding that they were super soldiers genetically enhanced by the Alliance (another political power on the planet, whose members were enemies of Gosis), Gosis ordered that Reed and Archer should be executed by hanging. However, they were rescued by Enterprise NX-01 before the sentence could be carried out. (ENT: "The Communicator") Gosis was played by Francis Guinan.
