abstract
| - Rovers failed in their attempt to record a remarkable comeback in this League Two fixture against Northampton Town. The Cobblers had gone 2–0 up inside 10 minutes, thanks to a brace from Adebayo Akinfenwa, and Kelvin Langmead had added a third inside the 20-minute mark to leave Rovers reeling. The attempted comeback began in the second half when Craig Stanley netted his first goal as a Bristol Rovers player, and when Mustapha Carayol was brought down in the box by Northampton 'keeper Matt Duke, Lee Brown converted the penalty. It was too little too late however, and Northampton held on to win the game 3–2.
