* Receive Reflect [Melee] (8s). Reflect [Melee]: Received melee damage is reduced and the reduced amount is dealt to the attacker.
- Deflect is one of Fenris's talents from his unique Tevinter Fugitive specialization in Dragon Age II.
- For two seconds, Genji will automatically deflect incoming projectiles towards wherever his crosshair is pointed. This only applies to projectiles within his field of view. Doing this does not affect the properties of the projectile; they will retain their damage, knockback, and ability to headshot (or lack thereof).
- Deflect is an avoidance mechanic that functions exactly the same as parry, with the exception of only appearing to work for magical attacks that use the melee hit table, the most notable of these being Hammer of the Righteous. Given that Deflection takes the same space in the combat table as parry, expertise will reduce a the chance for a player's attacks, and additional parry rating will increase a player's chance to deflect attacks. Deflected attacks do incur parry haste.
- Deflect is a little understood and rarely used mechanic which negates all effects of spells or melee attacks. It is not known what is the chance of deflection nor if it requires any type of weapon or offhand item equipped. It has been compared to the parry rating, which may affect the chance to deflect. The possibility of a deflect may lie in the random distribution of excess parriable attack damage, a parry being an offensive force being met by a defensive force head on; versus a deflection, where by the offensive force is redirected onto a tangent, away from the target, possibly a function of movement and position. Deflect also appears more prevalent with ranged physical attacks and is speculated on the World of Warcraft forums that it may replace Parry in ranged melee or attack situatio

Deflect also appears more prevalent with ranged physical attacks and is speculated on the World of Warcraft forums that it may replace Parry in ranged melee or attack situations . It is also speculated that the mechanic is more common with low hit rating.
The hunter ability Deterrence gives a 100% chance to parry melee attacks and to deflect spells. The usage of Deflect for Deterrence is strange in that given what is known about Deflection, it appears to temporarily allow the hunter's parry chance to affect their spell avoidance chance, which is what causes the deflect message.
