Jessica is a troubled adolescent who hates the All-Girls private school, Holy Angels Academy, she attends in Cherrygrove City. She claims that there's "too much estrogen" and prefers to be in the company of Pokemon rather than take up a "nice, young lady's education". Jessica comes from a very wealthy well-to-do family in New Bark Town with a Father who's a prominent pokemon doctor (teaching several seminars in medicine to past Nurse Joys) and a Mother who's a retired regional police director (who's subordinated several past Officer Jennys). She has both an older brother and an older sister attending PSU (Pewter State University - NOT Penn State) studying Archaeology and RU (Rustboro University - NOT Rutgers) studying fashion design respectively. Although Jessica is the youngest, she is also the oddest as she is incredibly rebellious despite being tutored in etiquette and exhibits an odd sleeping pattern making her passive by day and active at night. She spends most nights going out on Route 29 to see the Pokemon at work - mostly Noctowls, HootHoots, Spinaraks, Ariadoses, Metapods, Ratatas, Pikachus, etc - though she can't interact with them. Many times, Jessica will be too exhausted to attend school and will go straight to bed even when the private limo has just arrived. The father and mother are close to fed up and decide to call in a psychiatrist to diagnose her behavioral deficiencies while contemplating pulling Jessica out of Holy Angels and be privately schooled. One night, Jessica goes out to Route 29 like any ordinary night and frolics about admiring the diverse show of Pokemon in the fields. She soon notices a note near a tree that had weird markings on it. Jessica was mesmerized for a moment until she heard a strange shriek behind her and quickly stuffs the note in her pocket. A little worried she started walking on the path back towards home. The frequency of the shrieking intensified and soon she felt something pulling her hair although she saw no one. Jessica's fright turns into annoyance very soon as she hates it when something or someone is pulling her hair. Suddenly a small ghost pokemon gets up in her face and slightly surprises her as she takes two steps back. The strange pokemon sticks out its tongue and shrieks rolling in the air laughing. Jessica herself starts laughing hysterically as she's never seen something so cute do "weird shit" like that. And so a friendship is struck up between the two and Jessica, not knowing the name of the pokemon, decides to call her "Missy." Jessica stopped going to Route 29 and ended up playing with Missy at the front of her 50 acre property. Her mother and father observed from the window each night watching her rile in amusement by herself growing more and more concerned every day. The mother finally claimed that their daughter had down syndrome and needs medication. The father tried convincing her that down syndrome is a genetic disease and cannot be contracted but the mother kept insisting that their daughter had caught down syndrome. It wasn't until later the Father discovered the note Jessica had found and realized immediately it was a spell tag and strongly suspected Jessica was playing with a ghost pokemon. Upon closer inspection of the silhouette Jessica was playing with, it was discovered that the pokemon was Misdreavus - only by sheer coincidence was the name Missy given. The parents confronted Jessica about Misdreavus and told her to stay away from it as they were afraid their daughter would be possessed and start floating around the house making demon noises - the last thing they want is an exorcism. However Jessica strongly refused. She stole one of her father's pokeballs and "caught" Misdreavus pulling the best prank on her parents - it was Misdreavus' turn to think Jessica was hysterical. For the next 4 years, Misdreavus would terrorize the Yi household and its butlers and maids. At least Jessica doesn't go out on late night excursions anymore.
