The party was founded in 1886 during what the 'Socialist surge', one year after the founding of the Socialist Party, in response to abhorrent conditions and wages for agricultural workers during the Industrial Revolution when focus had been shifted to urban industrial development. Initially, the party was based on a Marxist platform, however it later adopted Strassonism as its main ideology. Before 1923, the party never had electoral success, and functioned more as a pressure group for rights of agricultural workers. However in 1923, it accepted the offer to become part of Westland's ruling coalition, the Westland Socialist Front, at the culmination of the Westlandic Revolution by the Socialist Party.

Initially, the party was based on a Marxist platform, however it later adopted Strassonism as its main ideology. Before 1923, the party never had electoral success, and functioned more as a pressure group for rights of agricultural workers. However in 1923, it accepted the offer to become part of Westland's ruling coalition, the Westland Socialist Front, at the culmination of the Westlandic Revolution by the Socialist Party. Since its membership in the ruling coalition, the party has had fairly consistent electoral results, maintaining atleast 5 seats in the National Assembly throughout the 1930's to the 50's, however its support dwindling during the latter half of the 20th century. A resurgence in support for the party came following the Agricultural Crisis during the late 1990's, when poor management of a crop-blight caused a fall in production. The party rose once again to 4 seats in the Assembly in the 2012 election, 3 representing Glastö Prefecture and one representing Vikunӧ Prefecture.
