Though he understands the importance of the job, he doesn't enjoy it and would rather spend his time with the local Youkai. When he tells his woes to a passing Oni, the player; the player mentions that his woes aren't as bad as a Gloom Daruma's. Fushitada contests this and asks the player to bring him one so that he can prove his pain is worse. When the player presents the Gloom Daruma Fragment to Fushitada, Fushitada sees how vast and empty the despair of the Gloom Daruma is. This encounter has made him appreciate his life and he begins working again with new found vigour.
