A rule which says Don’t Buy a Stock Only to Obtain a Dividend sounds highly unusual. Payment of dividends is done mainly in two forms. Firstly, it may be paid in cash to the holder of the stocks. Cash payment means payment made by way of dividend warrants or direct credits in the bank account of the stock holder. Secondly, it is not paid in cash but accumulated and re-invested in the stocks of the same company.
