- Moka Akashiya ist eine Vampirin und besucht die Yokai- Akademie. Schon an ihrem ersten Schultag an der Schule lernt sie Tsukune Aono als Ersten kennen, indem sie ihn mit dem Fahrrad überfährt. - Moka Akashiya is the main female protagonist of the manga/anime series Rosario + Vampire. She is a female Vampire, in Yōkai Academy and is the first person Tsukune Aono meets when he sets foot in the yōkai realm. Moka takes a liking to Tsukune, after ingesting his blood, and becomes addicted in doing so. When the Rosario Cross around her neck is removed, the seal keeping her inner nature is released. Cold and arrogant, the Inner Moka is a completely different entity from the kind, loving Moka, going so far as to specifically remind Tsukune to "be kind to the other Moka". Tsukune is the only one able to remove the Rosario Cross around Moka's neck.
- Moka has two very distinct personalities. One is the smart, cute, cheerful, positive, kind, sometimes oblivious, yet always caring girl that would make anyone want to be her friend because that's how she is naturally. The other personality is the one that's deep down inside her, a different consciousness altogether. This second, inner Moka can seem to be cold, calculated, uncaring, probably even a little sadistic if she's dealing with the person that dared try to take advantage of either two of her selves. She's still every bit as Feminine as the 'outer' Moka is, and is quite slower to come to care for people as much as 'outer' Moka is as fast to care for them. 'Inner' Moka is quite proud of being a pureblood, especially of her own unique heritage, and might look down on others in general

- Ikeda drew inspirations from Kaibutsu-kun and has incorporated some references later into the first serialization of the Rosario+Vampire manga. In an interview at Lucca Comics 2012, Ikeda said he is a big fan of Tim Burton and was inspired by his works, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, and particularly Edward Scissorhands because the monster has a sensitive soul. He had also researched various monsters from encyclopedias and the Internet. He started with his passion for vampires, and the concept of a beautiful girl vampire with a crucifix around her neck. He credits her and the other female characters for the series' popularity.
