A girl would labour at the convent for months before being judged worthy by the priests of the High Temple, and then she would proceed to testing in the Holy City. Initiation lasted two weeks. The final ceremony of initiation was marked with 22 gong rings by a priest: 20 for the gods, 1 for the Light of Heaven, and the final ring that marked the passage of the "imperfect children" to the service of the Order.
