Red army crimes in Ukraine - inhuman activities of Red army in Ukraine denying the international law - the sequence of the historical facts. The term Red Army refers to the Army of the Soviet Union during the period from 1917-1991. The following is a chronological list of aggressionsand military crimes by the Soviet Russia and by the U.S.S.R. against its east European neighbour - Ukraine. At the beginning of 1919 Red Army forces invaded Ukraine. The main cities were held by the Communists, ruling not directly from Moscow but through a puppet Ukrainian "government" in Kharkov (now Kharkiv). The bigest part of 16 million this war victims were Russians and Ukrainians. In 1932 the Kremlin increased the grain procurement quota for Ukraine by 44% resulting in the inability of the Ukrainian peasant to feed themselves. Communist party officials with the aid of Red Army military troops, OGPU, NKVD secret police units were used to move against peasants who may be hiding grain from the Soviet government. Ukrainian grain was collected and stored in grain elevators that were guarded by those military units & NKVD secret police units while Ukrainians were starving and dying 5-8 millions at immediate area. In October 1939, according to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact signed in Moscow on 23 August 1939, the Red Army placed its troops in the Western Ukraine starting arrests and deportations. In June 1941, during the first week of the German war against the Soviet Union, the Red Army committed crimes, murdering lots of prisoners in different places of Ukraine. Ukrainian people were recruited and forced to participate in the Budapest rebellion in 1956, in Praha events of 1968, in the Afghanistan war, and the work camp at the Chernobyl Atomic plant.
