Arith was a queen dragon in Benden Weyr that impressed Lorana. She was born in the third pass during the time of the dragon illness. Arith never reached her first mating flight, for she became ill before it could happen. Her rider, desperate to save her dragon, found a secret room in Benden that told them of how to save the dragons. But, there was not enough time, Lorana felt that her dragon was dying and injected her with both dragon and watch-wher serum. Arith began to complain that "It burns!" and she jumped between. It turns out that Arith went back 400 years to Wind Blossom, who examined the poor dragon and discovered a cure, later to be found by Lorana.
