Lyn Turk and Karlyn Harris are a team of Single Moms/Friends on the 10th season of The Amazing Race. African-American single moms from Alabama, they were dismissed as a weak team due to their struggle in the first 2 legs and throughout the race. Contestants made regular comment on how surprised they were that the team to whom they referred to as "Bama" or "The Sistas" made competitive strides. Undeterred, they managed to survive elimination legs after legs despite competing against much more physically capable teams due to their navigation skills, level-headed pragmatism in stressful situations and, in part, to their alliance with the "6 packs" (including David & Mary and Erwin & Godwin). | - Lyn Turk and Karlyn Harris are a team of Single Moms/Friends on the 10th season of The Amazing Race. In reference to their kinship with David & Mary, Karlyn stated, "We're from the South. We help each other. That's what we do." They were the first all-female team to ever make it to the final three of the competition, and so, despite being bullied all throughout the game by Dustin & Kandice (a.k.a. the Beauty Queens or the blondes) who used unfair tactics to get ahead of other teams. In the end, Lyn and Karlyn earned a sweet victory over the blondes when the former finished second despite being yielded by the latter who finished last that resulted in them being marked for elimination. The single moms would then finish up the job in the following leg when they finished ahead of the Beauty Queens for the second time in a row. This was a special moment in the history of the game as it had been dominated by alpha males before the 10th season.
