Signed as a free agent by the Red Wings, Conacher played 1941-42 for the Wings' farm team the Omaha Knights, World War II regulations kept Conacher in Canada until 1945, so he played senior amateur hockey during this time. In 1945-46 he split between the Wings and the Indianapolis Capitals. The next season he scored 29 points in 33 NHL games for the Wings. After a good 1947-48 season when he scored 40 points for the WIngs, Conacher was traded to the Black Hawks at the start of the 1948-49 season. Coancher scored 48 points for the Hawks in 1948-49, but his numbers dwindled after that. The Rangers picked him up on waivers in 1951. After two seasons split between the Rangers and the minors, Conacher retired in 1953.
