The Giant meerkat is the biggest species of meerkat. It is about the size of a large dog breed (Anatolian shepherd or golden retriever). It hides in big holes to stay away from larger mammal predators. It is a carnivore. It lives in parts on the savannahs of Africa. It is the only meerkat species that is big enough to take on small antelopes (gazelles, etc), honey badgers, eagles (and other birds of prey), and small cats (including servals, feral cats, African wildcats, etc.).
