abstract
  • The Apple II family of machines was Apple Computer's first and most famous group of home computers. The first machine, The Apple II, was released on June 7, 1977. The last Apple IIs were sold in 1992. (source: Wikipedia). The names of the machines can be spelled Apple //, Apple 2, Apple ][, and Apple II. The Apple II, Apple II+, Apple ][e Platnum, and Apple II e+ used a 6502 CPU; however; the Apple ][c, Apple ][c Enhanced, Apple II e, and Apple IIe Enhanced used a MOS 65C02. Because it was 16-bit, the Apple IIgs used a MOS 65C816. All the machines used 1 CPU, but many had the option to add a Z80-card so the computer could run CP/M as well
