| - The Sentinel-class Star Destroyer was a fourth-generation avant-garde Star Destroyer classification manufactured jointly by Rendili StarDrive, Kuat Drive Yards and Mon Calamari Shipyards under contract to the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet in the years following the Yuuzhan Vong War (31 ABY-onwards). Though its original design was initially conceived in 19 ABY after New Republic analysts had assessed New Republic fleet engagements during the Black Fleet Crisis, since its inception its development was impeded by a number of political, military and commercial factors. A decade later, manufacture of the Sentinel-class Star Destroyers fully commenced in the final year of the Yuuzhan Vong War (29 ABY), with the lead vessels of the class deemed operational in 31 ABY. While under development, it was known as the Expeditionary Strike Capability to its contractors under the tenure of New Republic Navy and later, the Galactic Alliance Navy. To others, its various constituent designs were dubbed different names: the Majestic-class Star Destroyer (Kuat Drive Yards) and the MC100 Star Cruiser (Mon Calamari Shipyards). In naval colloquial to both allies and enemies alike, it was accorded the nickname of "capital ship killer" because of its unique frontally-focused cone of heavy turbolaser batteries and hyperaccelerated heavy proton torpedo launchers, which were designed to rapidly incapacitate and neutralize enemy capital ships in its frontal field of fire. This specific role and specialization of the Sentinel-class Star Destroyer was a departure from the traditional "multi-mission" roles fulfilled by preceding Star Destroyer classifications (e.g., the Imperial I-class Destroyer) and signaled a revision in doctrine. In order to bring its asymmetrically-powerful frontal cone of fire upon enemy targets of opportunity, tactical positioning was paramount to ensure the Sentinel-class directly faced opposing warships and to ensure its underpowered ventral and lateral flanks were not exposed. Finally, to compensate for its more vulnerable flanks, the Sentinel-class Star Destroyers were obligatorily paired to task forces of smaller escort ships during all operations and manuevers, unlike the one-vessel "Star Destroyer patrols" typical of the bygone Imperial Navy.
- Originally developed by the Laro Order the Sentinel-class Star Destroyer is the sister ship to the Phalanx Star Destroyer, which serves the Laro Order, the Sentinel found its way into Confederate hands through trade talks and a bit of careful negotiation after being seen by Confederate military high ups within the government. Upon acquiring the blue prints Wild Star soon realized that the vessel was more then they had even hoped for or been told about by Laro officials. What they saw was a sturdy vessel that was more durable than a Victory-class Star Destroyer and that could be produced at a significantly reduced cost. The key to this lowered cost, and higher than average armor rating, was the fact that it is very modular. After the negotiations the blueprints to the SSD found their way into the hands of Wild Star's own advanced developers who were more then willing to update the vessel and outfit it with Confederate technology. Renaming the ship something that was more suited to Wild Star the technicians gave the vessel a once over finding little things here and there that could be done to enhance it making full use of what was already an excellent design.
