- Teleportals (originally Travel Gates; Travelers' Gates in the GBC releases) are a method of transportation in the Dragon Quest game series series. It is represented by a tile of magic that looks similar to a whirlpool. By stepping onto the tile, the Hero's party will be transported to another location. Most often, Teleportals are bi-directional, meaning the player can travel to a location and then return by Teleportal; if not, they must travel back by other means. Teleportals first appeared in Dragon Quest II.

| - A polydenum-powered device, created by the Castori in 2285, which allowed for instantaneous personal transit between one teleportal and another. The system was discontinued when the Castori finished work on the OtherSpace Ring Network. A cheap knock-off of the devices was created by the Lunites, in 3000, linking Luna and New Luna, and Luna and Sivad after the Solar Consortium put political pressure on the Castori to deactivate Luna's Castori-sponsored teleportal. Unfortunately, the Luna teleportal had the problem that the traveller would often end up five or more feet in the air when they emerged on the other side.

Teleportals mainly serve as a means of transportation to distant locations early in the game before having another means of long distance transportation (such as a ship or the Zoom spell), by giving access to a remote location which is not accessible by other means, or as part of a maze within a castle/dungeon.
