Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an action hack and slash video game developed by PlatinumGames and produced by Kojima Productions, for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. It was re-released in January of 2016 for the NVidia Shield Android TV.[4] It is a spin-off in the Metal Gearseries, set four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, where players control Raiden, a cyborg who confronts the private military company Desperado Enforcement. Due to the game's somewhat silly and over the top nature, several memes were created from it.

NANOMACHINES SON: "Nanomachines son" is a phrase said by the main villian and final boss of the game,Senator Armstrong, during a cinematic sequence when Raiden, the playable character asks why he won't die. The frace quickly became popular on the internet as an ilogical answer to a completely unrelated question. It was also used to mock the over use of nanomachines in the Metal Gear universe as a plot device to explain important plot points.
