Mia-ling Li (b. 14 Feb. 1980, d. 17 Sept 2009) was the daughter of Yee-ling Li and John Li, and sister of Robert Li. The family lived together in the Larchmont section of central Los Angeles. Following Chinese tradition, she was designated as the caretaker for her parents. She did the shopping, cooking and cleaning for the entire family while her parents and brother worked in their two stores. She had a deep resentment towards her parents for forcing her into this role.

She had a deep resentment towards her parents for forcing her into this role. In 2009 she and her brother conspired to kill their father. Mia-ling wanted to kill both parents but Robert would not go along with that. Mia and Robert hired Eugene Lam to kill her father and make it look like a robbery, which he did on 8 September 2009. When the investigation of John Li's death began to focus on the Li family, Mia-ling took a gun that was kept under the counter of the Normandie store. She went to the family's Sherman Oaks store where Det. Ignacio Ferras was about to arrest her brother. She got behind Ferras and shot him four times in the back. She then turned the gun on herself.
