In 1988, Queens Surface Corporation was formed to replace the bus services then operated by Queens/Steinway Transit Corp., which itself was established following the merger of Steinway Transit Corp. into Queens Transit Corp. in 1986. The Queens Surface Corporation facility was located at 128-15 28th Avenue near the New York Times printing plant in the College Point neighborhood of Queens, New York. The routes operated by Queens Surface Corp. were taken over by the City of New York and turned over to the MTA Bus Company for operation on February 26, 2005; the depot has been renamed the College Point Bus Depot.
