A company which manufactured synthesizer keyboard mechanisms in the 1970s up until about 1985. Pratt-Read keyboards have a reputation for being sturdy and reliable, and most synths manufactured in the USA and Europe in the '70s used them. A few new old stock mechanisms still turn up, and are highly prized by restorers and DIY'ers when found. The company is still operating, but no longer in the music business; today, it manufactures hand tools.
