He was quickly found out and was forced to leave Gotham. He decided to move out to an inhabitant island, where he continued his experiments. He had managed to create Garth, a genetically-altered gorilla and later Tygrus, a half-man, half-tiger hybrid, with cunning and strength augmented attributes. When Tygrus was feeling lonely, Dorian decided that he should find him a soul mate. He chose Catwoman as Tygrus' new mate and sent Garth to kidnap her. Garth took her to Dorian's island and Dorian subjected her to splicing. As a result, Catwoman was transformed into a half-woman, half-feline. However, Batman suspected Catwoman's appearance and tracked her to Dorian's island. Upon arriving, Batman witnessed Catwoman's transformation and attempted to save her, but Dorian sent Tygrus to kill Batman. When Tygrus learned that Dorian had tricked him, he turned on him. When the laboratory exploded, Tygrus saved Dorian and delivered him to Batman and Catwoman. Dorian was later sent to Arkham Asylum.

He had managed to create Garth, a genetically-altered gorilla and later Tygrus, a half-man, half-tiger hybrid, with cunning and strength augmented attributes. Dorian decides that he should find him a mate. He chooses Selina Kyle (AKA Catwoman) as Tygrus' new mate and sends Garth to kidnap her. Garth takes her to Dorian's island and Dorian subjects her to gene splicing. As a result, Catwoman is transformed into a half-woman, half-feline. However, Batman grows suspicious of Catwoman's disappearance, and tracks her to Dorian's island. Upon arriving, Batman learns of Selina's transformation and attempts to save her, but Dorian sends Tygrus to kill Batman. When Tygrus learns that Dorian had tricked him, however, he turns on him, destroying the laboratory. Tygrus saves Dorian and delivers him to Batman and Catwoman. Dorian is later sent to Arkham Asylum. In The Batman Adventures story "House of Dorian", a freak accident frees Dorian from prison and he plans to recapture Selina Kyle. To do so, he dupes Tygrus into working for him again as well as recruiting Anthony Romulus, who joins Emile in exchange that he finds a cure that will restore him to his human form. He also forcefully transforms Kirk Langstrom into Man-Bat for additional help. Tygrus, Dorian, and Romulus are all apparently killed in the ensuing explosion, although Man-Bat survives.
